NEW DELHI: Narendra Modi has announced the Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana after the Prana Pratishta of Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The project aims to install rooftop solar systems in one crore households across the country. The Prime Minister's announcement was made through Twitter. He also stated in the note that the announcement is being made after returning from Ayodhya.
"All the devotees of the world always get energy from the light of Suryavamshi Lord Shri Ram.
Today, on the auspicious occasion of Prana-Pratishtha in Ayodhya, I resolved to have a solar rooftop system on the roof of the house of Indians.
After returning from Ayodhya I have taken the first decision that our government will start “Pradhan Mantri Suryodaya Yojana” with the target of installing rooftop solar on 1 crore houses.
This will reduce the electricity bill of the poor and middle class and also make India self-sufficient in energy. '- he noted. Modi discussed the project with officials of the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Energy.
